George Berardi as Director of Operations and Design listens to clients' desires and expressions of need for their new space, and creates a vision of the end product. He brings to each project an expert understanding of function and aesthetic appropriateness as it relates to creating a thoughtful, responsible final product that meets the clients' program and becomes an integral piece of the neighborhood fabric.

His primary responsibilities include management and development of the design staff, conceptual building design, space programming development and overall quality control. His continuous client involvement and project management throughout each project assures that client-directed programmatic requirements, as well as design intent, are maintained throughout the design process. His experience is quite varied and includes educational, medical, research, office development and retail development. Our most significant body of work is that demonstrated by the completion of more than 40,000 specialized housing units.

Mr. Berardi received his degree in Architecture from The Ohio State University in 1974; he is a Registered Architect in twenty States, holds an NCARB certificate and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects. As Director of Design for the Firm, he has been responsible for creating architecture that is functional, contextual, dignified and inspirational. He has designed a wide variety of building types, however always with a principal focus on the multi-family housing industry, including large-scale condominium development, and with secondary specialization to elderly housing and care settings including Assisted Living, Nursing, and Congregate Care, all based solidly on a foundation of quality and integration of specific Owner needs. His work has received widespread professional public acclaim, and fulfills the promise of illustrating quality architecture for the public. Mr. Berardi has led the Firm through the completion of hundreds of commissions in the United States, which have contributed to the steady growth of the Firm. Our staff of 32 architects and engineers follows closely those guidelines for the completion of responsive architecture.

Mr. Berardi takes an active role in all major design decisions at BPI. He is an advocate of the team approach, which brings together special knowledge of appropriate design professionals needed for today's complex design and planning projects. His significant record of achievement in the architectural profession is recognized by numerous National Organization and Clients, as well as governmental agencies, permitting him to provide direct consultation to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development for Critical Projects.

Mr. Berardi founded Berardi & Partners Inc. in 1979, and his duties revolve around management and design of major projects, especially those encompassing his primary design specialties. Historic preservation and adaptive use of historic buildings are also major business components for the Firm, as well as master planning of campus-based facilities. In recent years, as product types have shifted, Mr. Berardi has become increasingly involved in specialized development within central city core areas as architect and developer. This complementary group of specialties is applied not only as an architectural practitioner, but often as guest speaker, and guest lecturer at the Ohio State University.

Mr. Berardi guides the client and BPI team members from a project's beginning through completion, ensuring full client participation in all phases of the design process. His attention to detail is a key to BPI's quality control efforts for scheduling, preparation, coordination and standardization of working drawings and specifications. A specialist in the planning and design, Mr. Berardi oversees space needs analysis, construction documents, and project management.

George Berardi truly looks forward to his next 50 years in a most rewarding profession, with great anticipation for changes in building technologies, as they may expand the breadth of the creative process.
